Hiroshi Tanaka

Gaming Overlay Engineer, Live Subtitles — based in Tokyo

Hiroshi is responsible for the parts of Live Subtitles that have to coexist with games: render path, focus stealing, hotkey conflicts, anti-cheat compatibility, and the difference between an overlay that survives a ranked match and one that loses the round for you.

Background

Hiroshi has a degree in information engineering from Keio University and spent six years at a Tokyo-based gaming studio working on rendering and HUD code for two shipped titles. He moved into overlay engineering after building an internal accessibility tool for a competitive title's deaf community in Japan. He plays ranked weekly across two genres, which is how Game Mode keeps acquiring features that real squads actually use.

Editorial standards

Every gaming guide on this site has been executed against at least two live games in 2026. If a setup behaves differently on Windows 10 vs Windows 11, or on NVIDIA vs AMD GPUs, Hiroshi notes the difference rather than picking a single configuration and ignoring the rest.
